The Unabridged Story of Ghoulstock 5: July 30, 2005

As you may know, Ghoulstock 5 didn't happen on July 30th at The Harwan.. We are still trying to figure out exactly what happened, but it appears that some folks called the fire marshals office and ruined the deal we thought we had made with the town. As a result, police officers with orders from the fire marshal showed up about 10 minutes before the show was supposed to go on and shut us down.

Still, with the bands already there & about a hundred folks already gathered outside, we had to find a way to make it happen. Eventually someone volunteered to move the show to their backyard in Audubon. Goodnight or Sleep played a short set there to some wild joyous dancing (cause why not?). After they finished up, the party was moved to 'matt & dave's house (sort of the unofficial home of Ghoulstock Industries). We gave out a bunch of free shirts & candy and set up the digital projector in the basement. It was about this time when the numbness we all felt from the cancellation of Ghoulstock started to float away & be replaced by fun & togetherness & sharing & dancing & just freaking good times, heh, the usual Ghoulstock affair.

We showed the Ghoulstock 5 film in the basement & everyone's response was incredible. We were really happy that everybody seemed to really dig our shenanigans. After the movie ended, 'matt & dave's parents bought pizza for everyone & once we all got our fill, Los Aardvark set up to rock the house down.

Fortunately for the Bennett family, Los Aardvark didn't rock the house down, but they DID blow up a huge dance party in the basement, heh. The room was packed with happy bodies - with older friends sitting in the back and Mr. & Mrs. Bennett watching from the stairs. After possibly the best Los Aardvark set to date, all was ready for Matt & Kim to share their incredibly awesome fun music with everyone.

It Was Amazing.

Matt brought down a set of blue x-mas lights & 'matt grabbed a string of lights that moved to music & that was all that lit the basement. Matt & Kim set up in the middle of the room and a full circle super-amazing dance party was created around them, heh, it was so much fun.

By this time, there was so much rocking and so much dancing and so much good conversation & sharing that we all just about forgot about the tragedy of the Harwan getting shut down.

It was still an incredible time and we send out a big thank you to everyone who stuck it out and went on the crazy roaming circus tour that was Ghoulstock 5, :).

Right now there are no plans to hold a rescheduled Ghoulstock 5, since most of the Ghoul Crew will be departing to their respective colleges in a few days.

However, the Ghoul Crew is considering starting a film & record label called Ghoulstock Industries. We hope to involve all our friends who have made all the Ghoulstocks so enjoyable and to share our creations with more & more good folks.

We'll send out a bulletin with any updates on the label (right now we're looking to put out the first Los Aardvark record, & want to talk with Goodnight or Sleep, maybe doing something The Whoa Whoa Whoas & even our own Anthony Montezuma - heh)

We're sorry for the long delay in getting the word out about what went down, but I suppose it took some time for us to get over it, too, before we could really talk about it without getting frustrated or mad or what not.

The fate of The Harwan Theatre is still unknown to us, but there is a possibility that the building may be available over winter break for a Ghoulstock Film Fest or some such.

Again, thank you for sticking with us & even caring to read about this little episod in Ghoulstock History, heh. Ghoulstock Short Films Volume II DVDs (includes the GS4 short films & lots of extras) should be available to purchase online soon, and we may even have copies of the Ghoulstock Volume III DVD (includes the GS5 Film & the making-of, as well as loads of extras) out by November.

well, ghoulstock 5 at the harwan was shut down before it even started – but we rallied and moved the core gang to some kids house in audubon, nj & then goodnight or sleep played in the backyard & cordelia & i rocked out on the lawn & got crazy & then the whole party moved to my house and we gave out free ghoulstock shirts & then watched the ghoulstock 5 film and then ate some pizza and then rocked out to los aardvark & then matt & kim played at my house & it was just a huge dance party celebration of life & i loved it.

If you need directions click on directions! It's pretty easy to find.

But the hard part is parking! Please please please ride your bike, carpool or even let someone drop you off. It will make it much more easy.

There's no smoking or alcohol, no drugs. There is a designated smoking area in the alley. But there is dancing allowed. Come dressed up! In anything!

Another thing: We only have two bathrooms. One upstairs in the apartment with one toilet and a portapotty out in the back (with a fancy sink in it.) We wanted to open the restrooms upstairs but we weren't able to turn on the water. It was strange But at least we rented a portapotty; we'll put a touch light in there.

We'll have a lot of art hanging up too, so please enjoy it and respect it!

We'll be selling water, soda, chips, animal crackers, and more goodies. For cheap too. No 5 buck waters. We'll also be selling exclusive Ghoulstock shirts for 6 bucks and recycled Ghoulstock T's for 3 bucks. The Ghoulstock Short Film Vol. II DVD is 10 bucks. It's got the GS4 movies and lots of extras including the lost episodes of Roommate Frankenstein (Never before seen shit!.)

screened shirts, beautified building

this is the 1026 space in philly (1026 arch st.) where meg interns, so we got to screen print all our shirts for free (cause they're rad)!

we made two kinds of shirts: recycled t's that are made from shirts we'd normally donate to goodwill, but instead printed the friendly renegade ghoul flag symbol over top of the existing design to create many 100% original, one-of-a-kind t-shirts; the other t's are brand new and feature the ghoulstock five witch logo that dave photoshopped. they look hottt

this was meg & i's first screening, so we got wicked better as the night progressed.

we unfortunately missed a lot of the last minute finishing touches down at the harwan. dave finished painting most of the floors & the stairs, chris put up all the no-smoking, bathroom, & fire extinguisher signs and installed locks on no-no doors, sets were made, lights were put together, and when i went back there with dave at 4am to get his forgotten laptop, the place looked beautiful.

the ghoulstock 5 film is just about all finished – just need to make the end credits & overlay the guitar & piano tracks that dave & luke wrote tonight, :D! incredible!

the ghoulstock short films vol. 2 DVD is almost done, too!
steve-o has made a freaking HILARIOUS intro and menu, and edited a few of the never-before-seen Roommate Frankenstein Season 1 Episodes! there will be a special features section with a staring contest against each member of the ghoul crew as well as some hidden extras, maybe…

everything is moving along ridiculously well!

the ghoulstock 5 shirts will be screen printed by meg and myself tomorrow over at her ridiculously rad intership at this studio in philadelphia – we will be selling RECYCLED T’s, where we take our clothes that we’d normally donate to good-will and re-screen them with our own designs on them for a way cheap price and a TOTALLY ONE HUNDRED PERCENT ORIGINAL, ONE OF A KIND T-SHirt!!!

skits are being rehearsed from now till the stock (heh, freaking hIlarious) and updated with new takes daily!

sound will be checked tomorrow, as well as lights, and we will be ready to roll, :D!!!
